What is Greenwashing, and How Do You Spot It?

If you haven’t heard of the term ‘greenwashing’ before, then let us explain to you what it is, how you spot it, and why it’s so important to be aware of this term.

Greenwashing refers to when a company spends more time and money on marketing itself as environmentally friendly rather than actually making a positive environmental impact. Basically, they can talk the talk but can’t walk the walk.

Here are our top 3 tips on how to pull down the curtain on greenwashing:

TIP 1: Focus on what ingredients go into the product, not just what gets left out

At Grace we aim to be fully transparent when it comes to the quality of our formulas and the ingredients. When you go onto any of our product pages on the website, you can find the full list of ingredients used in that formula.

TIP 2: Learn how to read ingredient labels on packaging

Did you know that the ingredients are actually listed in descending order? This means the ingredients listed first represent the greatest percentage in the formulation.

Unlike other skincare companies where the main ingredient is water, you’ll see the first ingredient in all our formulas is organic aloe vera. The combination of aloe vera and other natural ingredients and botanicals make every drop of your Grace skincare count.

TIP 3: Find out where companies are sourcing ingredients from and where they are formulating their products

Sadly, often these ‘natural’ companies actually source their ingredients unethically but aren’t transparent about where and how they produce their products.

Did you know that we actually formulate all our skincare right here, on site in a facility licensed by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) & Australian Certified Organic (ACO). We make, pack and ship all your products right here from our Gold Coast location!

Help us to put a stop to greenwashing and make sure you get the best results from your skincare!
